Terms of Use
Last updated: October 7, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Medbit LLC (“MedBit,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of the MedBit mobile application (“the App”), its optional online features, and the medbit.app website (together, “the Service”). By creating a vault, purchasing a membership, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. If you store information about another person (for example, a child or a parent you care for), you represent that you have the legal authority or their permission to do so.
2. Not medical advice, and not for emergencies
MedBit is a personal record-keeping and reminder tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider about any medical condition, medication, or treatment, and never disregard or delay professional advice because of something in the App.
MedBit is not an emergency service and does not monitor you. If you or someone else may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.
3. Reminders and alerts are not guaranteed
Reminders, refill projections, and missed check-in alerts are conveniences, not safeguards. They depend on things outside our control — your device’s settings, battery, and notification permissions; network connectivity; email delivery and spam filters; whether you open the App (alerts pause if you haven’t opened it in about 30 days); and the accuracy of the information you enter. A reminder or alert may be late, may not arrive, or may be sent when nothing is wrong. Do not rely on MedBit as the only way to take a medication or to learn that someone needs help.
4. Alert contacts
You may add up to the number of alert contacts your membership allows. By adding someone, you confirm they have agreed to receive emails about missed check-ins on your behalf. Each contact must confirm their email address before receiving alerts and can unsubscribe at any time. Alert emails never include medication names or other details from your vault, but they do tell the contact that you (by the name you choose) missed a type of scheduled item.
5. Your vault and recovery phrase
When you create a vault, the App generates a 12-word recovery phrase. It is the only way to unlock your vault on a new device or restore a backup, and it is never transmitted to or stored by us.
If you lose your recovery phrase, we cannot recover your data. There is no “forgot password” option — this is a deliberate consequence of end-to-end encryption. You are responsible for keeping your recovery phrase and your device secure, and for everything done with them.
6. Memberships, free trials, and billing
The App’s core record-keeping is free. Additional features are available through paid memberships (currently Essentials, Plus, and Family), billed monthly or yearly through the Apple App Store or Google Play (“the Store”). The features included in each membership and their prices are shown in the App before you buy.
- Payment. All payments are processed by the Store under its terms. We never receive your payment details.
- Free trial. Eligible new members get a free trial (currently 7 days). Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your membership starts and you’re charged automatically. Trial eligibility is determined by the Store, generally once per account.
- Automatic renewal. Memberships renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can cancel at any time in your Store account’s subscription settings (also reachable from Profile → Membership in the App); access continues until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Price changes. We may change membership prices. The Store will notify you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before a higher price applies.
- Changing plans. Upgrades generally take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at your next renewal. Any proration is handled by the Store.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, membership features continue for up to 14 days while the Store retries. If payment isn’t completed in that time, membership features (including alerts) stop until it is.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by the Store under its policies; we can’t issue them directly. A refunded or charged-back period ends the features it paid for.
- Health Calendar. Once you have paid for at least one full membership period (a free trial alone doesn’t count), you keep access to the Health Calendar on your account even after your membership ends, for as long as we offer the App. This doesn’t apply if that payment is refunded or charged back.
- Changes to features. We may add, change, or remove features in a membership. If we remove a significant feature you’re paying for, we’ll tell you in the App so you can cancel before your next renewal.
7. Your content and backups
You own everything you put in your vault. Because it’s encrypted with a key only you hold, we can’t view it. You give us permission only to store and transmit the encrypted copies needed to provide features you use, such as Cloud Backup.
We work to keep backups reliable, but we don’t guarantee that backed-up data will always be available or complete. Keep your own copies of anything important, such as paper or provider records.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the Service’s security, encryption, purchase verification, or usage limits, except as permitted by law.
- Use alerts to send unwanted email, or add anyone as an alert contact without their agreement.
- Store or transmit content that is unlawful or that you don’t have the right to store.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or other users, or access it by automated means other than the App.
9. License and ownership
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, under these Terms and the Store’s usage rules. The Service, including its software, design, and the MedBit name and logo, is owned by Medbit LLC and protected by law. If you send us feedback, we may use it without any obligation to you.
10. Apple and Google
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and Medbit LLC only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that it infringes a third party’s intellectual property — Medbit LLC is responsible for investigating and handling those. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or listed as a “terrorist supporting” country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms (such as your wireless carrier’s) when using the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
If you downloaded the App from Google Play, Google’s terms also apply to your purchases, and Google is not responsible for the App.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that reminders or alerts will be delivered, or that data will never be lost. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Medbit LLC and its members, managers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, health outcome, missed medication or appointment, or undelivered reminder or alert, arising out of or related to the Service — even if we’ve been told such damages are possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $50. These limits don’t apply where the law doesn’t allow them, such as liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct where that can’t be limited.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Medbit LLC against claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or of law, or from information you store about, or alerts you send to, other people.
14. Account deletion and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time, and delete your account and vault in the App (Profile → Delete account & vault) or by request at medbit.app/delete-account. Deletion removes your backups and other server-side data as described in the Privacy Policy and can’t be undone; cancel any subscription separately in your Store settings. We may suspend or end your access to the online features (such as backup and alerts) if you violate these Terms or use them in a way that could harm others or the Service. Sections 2, 3, 7, and 11–16 survive termination.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@medbit.app and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court where it qualifies. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws of your state of residence that can’t be waived.
16. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We may update these Terms; for material changes we’ll update the date above and notify you in the App before they take effect, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept them.
